The pillaging of the logs

They've chopped down the woodland from across the road (they're in the middle of building 800+ houses, a supermarket and an old folks home at the end of the wharf where I live) and left all these lovely honks of wood lying around. The past week people have been scrumping whatever they find there, trailers of wood have been going and so I thought that now would be a perfect time to get back into carving.

I'm also going to start applying for make-up artist courses. Preferably I'd rather do special FX make up but I guess I should start at the bottom.

Christmas, New Year and the drearyness of having t

First off - Christmas. Same 'ol drabness as ever but I did get a couple of rad presents! main one being Jazz Squid by the lovely ~Dusk101
*image to come later on*
I got a case for all my MAC make-up off the momma as well as some other stuff but the best being - remember the three flying ducks that were all the rage in like, the seventies? well I have better!! flying swallows!! they're brass and I have no idea how they're gonna be stuck to the wall but, goddamnit, they will take pride of place somewhere (I'm running out of room.. I need a flat!)
Tom got me an amazingly awful vase. It's bright red, about 3' high and so rad! Just a shame it wont fit anywhere in the house :( got money off the family and on boxing day mum remembered that I had a parcel a while back with "don't open till xmas" on it. I had no idea about it! Simon had sent me a ginormous Nightmare Before Christmas snowglobe and a lotto ticket. I have no idea how to repay him, in fact everyone's having to wait until the end of January for christmas from me. I'm just too poor.

New year was fab! yeah it had it's downsides but for the most of it.. fantastic!
I went to Kiri's new pad and the old college 'crew' were there. Carly from school was there too, just loads of people I miss and rarely get to see anymore. Just before midnight I left to walk into town to meet up with Adam for new years itself but the pub was locked and he wasn't answering his phone. So technically, I spent new years walking down a road and the first Happy New Year I got was off a chavvy smack head... great way to start the year!
Called mum on the way back to Kiri's and continued getting very drunk :D about 3am-ish Shaun walked me into town to meet up with Ad and go back home there via a kebab shop. Watched a movie or two then snuggled up in bed. That's how we've spent the past few days really.. We haven't been waking up before 3pm. Today it was nearly 6! Not complaining though :P

But yeah, once people start taking down their decorations I'll be happy. I'm not a fan of christmas anymore. it couldn't be further from magical these days.

In other news - I'm still (or rather re-trying) to battle Carbide Theme Edition.. and not doing too well. I plan on sewing a duvet cover for Dusk101 with his characters on it. Some more dresses perhaps.
who knows.

Hope everyone had a good holiday though!

Mobile themes

I've recently downloaded Carbide.ui S60 Theme maker for Nokia phones. (I think its mainly the newer ones but I do have Nokia's older theme maker if anyone need an older version)

It's impossible to get my head around it and if anyone knows of a how-to guide to it I'd be eternally thankful! Until then it's all trial and error.

I'm starting off with a blue version of the L'amour background I've previously made. I've got a sparkling new N95 and the themes on it are a bit pleh. So, L'amour first and since tons of you are adding the Kat von D pic I did, she'll be next :)

and that my dears, is all.

Thrifty ways

I've started work on the 3rd tiki now. I want to do one a week I've decided, then maybe look into selling them.

Does anyone know any thrifty ways of getting hold of wood?
I also need some help. What wood should I steer clear of by all costs and what's the best way to add shading? wood stain? I'm a proper novice.

I've also decided to try my luck at pinstriping a tiny car I won in a 10p machine at the arcade on Sunday. It's the tackiest little thing but I imagine it'd look hot painted cherry red and with some black and silver striping.

On sunday I'm going to hit the local car boot sales and see what I can destroy *ahem* so my masterpieces on.

Monitor wanted!

Well, some of you may know that I have the worst monitor in the world. Those of you who don't.. let me enlighten you!

It shows everything up in green/yellow. You can slightly tell colours but it's a hit and miss game. A game that has caused me to spent far too much money on MAC eyeshadows that I'll never wear, dancing purple hot dogs, a just a general mish mash of mistakes when it comes down to buying stuff online. Let alone trying to do any sort of graphic work!!

So, the mighty question is.. Does anyone have a spare monitor they'd be willing to part with? I don't care if it's an old TFT or a newer flat screen sort... so long as it has colours I don't much care!
I'll be willing to travel anywhere between Liverpool and Shrewsbury for it (this is in the UK obviously) and cheap as possible pleases!
I probably won't be able to collect it till after the 6th of July as I'm in Germany till around then.

But if anyone could let me know, that'd be spifftastic :D
